The Blackness in My Heart
Thank you for all the recommendations for fitness classes! I actually tried one last night at a new studio right near my apartment that seriously kicked my butt. I’ll talk more about it after I’ve been to a few classes. I’m going again tonight if I can manage to convince my legs to walk over there instead of lying on the floor saying ‘ouch’ every-time I move.
I have something really serious to share with you guys. I hate IKEA. Now, when I say this, I don’t mean that I just hate the place, I mean I hate the place with all my heart, body and soul. Whenever PartyDog and I go to IKEA we end up leaving in a huge fight, and normally with myself in tears. Why you ask? Because IKEA brings out the worst in couples. Next time you go, just look around and notice everyone fighting. Too many options means a lot of fighting.
The thing that drives me nuts is I know after we fight for three hours on which shelf or whatever to get, that in a few months the thing will end up in pieces on the floor. Everything we have bought at IKEA has broken within the first year of owning it. WHY DO WE GO BACK?
PartyDog has gotten pretty good at just not even suggesting we ever go there since he knows of the black cloud that will overtake my heart the second he even mentions the name. However that didn’t stop him from saying to me yesterday “We need to go to IKEA this weekend so I can get a bigger top of my desk.”
People, the second I read those typed words on GChat, I almost punched the computer. You want me to go to IKEA with you? How dare you ask that of me, especially on a day off! He suggested briefly last night he may go tonight on his own since I’m meeting up with a friend that’s in town. Every single person reading this better cross their fingers, legs, arms and whatever else you can to hope my body does not step foot within five miles of an IKEA. Save me. Please.
Ina completely unrelated note, I totes forgot to announce the winner of the Drymax socks!
#46: Leah: by Leah: I also liked them on facebook!
(To avoid confusion, Leah also commented: I actually have two goals for this year: a sprint triathlon and a half marathon. Since it’s my first time for both, my goal is simply to finish uninjured!)
Leah email me at readysetfeast@gmail.com stat so we can get you these awesome socks! That’s all the nonsense I have for now!
Who has a great IKEA story??

My husband and I love to wander around ikea looking for furniture we don’t want to buy. We also make frequent stops for ice cream and swedish meatballs! We once spent– no joke– 3 hours looking around, selected I think a bookcase, bought it, only to realize that we couldn’t fit it in the car and promptly returned it!

oh my lord I would have murdered myself in the parking lot.

We always go and plan on getting ice cream cones or snacks at the food court after shopping. Nobody can be sad with an ice cream cone in their hand right?

I can, if I’m in IKEA.

I have actually never been in an IKEA. One opened in town a few years ago and I’m not even really sure where it is. Guess I’m not missing out on much.

sooo glad its not just us – my hubby and i nearly got divorced in there once and he is the most laid back guy in the world. i swear they pump something into the air/meatballs! In our haste to get out of there quick we purchased the world’s biggest tv stand and of course it did not fit into the car so we just went right back round those revolving doors and returned it. at the time i thought the checkout girl was fibbing when she said it happens all the time but looking at Kate’s comment above i guess she was right!

HAHA I’m sorry but I’m cracking up. They really must put something in the air, I wonder how many couples have actually broken up at IKEA?

I don’t hate Ikea (and have quite a few sturdy pieces from there) but I do hate putting the items together!
However, the photo of Dean from Supernatural cracked me up. Because I can totally hear him saying that.

Putting them together is a nightmare.
Wasn’t that pic funny?? I cracked up when I saw that, cause I could picture him saying that too!

Ikea is so overwhelming! It’s fun for about the first 10 minutes, but then I just want to go home haha

was going to say, this has 30 Rock IKEA ep all over it ~ Andy & I never fight when we go though?? Except the one time we bought the wrong futon (we figured out AFTER andy built it) and had to dis-assemble it, drive back, and get the right one – during Redskins traffic. UGH. that day sucked. In other news: an IKEA trip is on our weekend to do list
