A Spinning Experience

Posted on September 26, 2012 at 7:05 pm, by Kelsey

Last night I had my first spinning experience. I’ve been meaning to try spinning for just about ever now but never got around to it.  I love working out and I love group fitness classes and I especially love a first-class-for- free deal so I was super excited to try out Flywheel.

Because I can’t do anything by myself, I begged Linds to come for me to watch and copy the entire class so I looked like I knew what I was doing. I don’t think it worked because I didn’t know how to do anything…

People, the studio is seriously SO cool. FlyWheel is possibly the hippest fitness studio I’ve ever been too. There’s music blasting and the classes are done in the dark which I thought was awesome (especially since it prevented me from being super competitive in class) I told Linds I felt like I was going to DA CLUB. Let me make this clear: this was not da club.

The class itself was pretty challenging but the energy was so high and the instructor was so awesome (I left wanting to marry her) that the entire class flew by.  Sprints, hills and arm-work were all incorporated into a jam-packed 45 minutes and I left a sweaty mess.  Having a sweatfest in another Chicaogo studio can be checked off my list.

To be honest, I didn’t fall in love with spinning. Don’t get me wrong, I had a lot of fun and would go to a class every now and then but it probably isn’t the thing for me (and it’s super expensive). However, if you do love spinning I feel like Flywheel is probably the best studio to go because it really is DA BOMB. My favorite part about the place was it let you pick a name to show your progress on the screen in the front of the class.  I picked Voldemort and Linds picked Dumbledore. Every time our names were on the screen I cracked up (and if you’re wondering Dumbledore won, ugh). I would definitively recommend at least giving it a try, especially if you go with a friend!

Speaking of friends, did you know I was friends with Santa Claus?  I didn’t either but apparently Linds has been moonlighting as Santa Claus after work.  Do you see that bag??! Apparently Christmas is coming early this year.

That’s all the nonsense I have for now!

Do you love spinning??

LOL! Love your funny names! Whenever I got to Flat Top with coworkers (ughghgh) I try to get us all to pick a theme and names from that theme… like singers, or cartoons… sometimes they don’t go for it :(

I didn’t realize Flywheel was in the dark! Schweet!

Is Linds doing ZOOMA? Or is she too busy getting ready for Christmas?

Unfortunately, I can’t go to ZOOMA :( . I’ve already made plans to go back to Michigan that weekend and meet up with some college friends. So sad, I really wanted to go!

Flywheel is a lot fun. I am not a huge fan of spinning but when I went there I felt like I was at a dance party! I love you themed names! Have a safe trip to Ohio this weekend. :)

I guess good (Dumbledore) prevailed over evil (Voldemort) in Flywheel. I seriously laughed out loud when our names first popped up on the screen. I’m sure everyone around me knew I was one of the names.

Also, my butt is SO sore today.

I took spin in college and didn’t love it. But our gym has some awesome bikes and are adding spin to the line up next month, so I’m going to give it another go.

That’s cool that they showed your names for progress. and the names you chose continue to validate why I love your blog so much!

Hahahahahahahahaha I love that you were Voldemort! I’m guessing He Who Shall Not Be Named was too long?

Flywheel is fun, isn’t it?? But, yeah, like you, I can see myself doing it every so often but not like every day or week. Plus, $$$$!

Next time, though, I need to come up with a fun name.

    So expensive, right?

I like the idea of a fun name. When I feel like spending some cash and going back, I promise to find something funny. Is it winter in Chicago over the river? You guys look awfully bundled up.
