Fabulous Eyebrows
Thursday, January 31st, 2013
Things are about to get creepy yet again here on RSF…surprise right?
Remember this seriously creepy post about my eyebrows? Here’s a weird picture to remind you:
Well, that creepster post just happens to be my most visited post….ever. I’m not even joking. Now I’m not saying I have lots of great posts on here (I clearly don’t) but the fact that THAT is my highest trafficked one just makes me so happy. SO so happy.
Since the eyebrow post seems to be so popular (my brows are beautiful….) I think that means it’s time for a brow update. I’m still growing them out a bit more so the shapes can be exactly how I want it but come on, how beautiful do they look?
I’m a humble person yes, but when it comes to my eyebrows I know how rocking they are so there’s no reason to act like I don’t…
Let’s take this post to the next level and make it even creepier with another picture of my brows.
Aren’t you glad you read my blog…?
Don’t answer that.
Man these posts make me feel weird-what about you…?

Question For Ya {3}….
Wednesday, January 30th, 2013
A few weeks ago someone asked me what my earliest memory is-I froze. Does anyone ever really recall their earliest memory on the spot like that? I’m not sure but it got me thinking about what my earliest memory actually is.
I spent from a few weeks ago until last night trying to sort it out in my head. I had a few memories I kept going back and forth between as to which came first. I finally called my mom last night and of course she knew right away which one happened first. (Mom’s always have the answers to everything-especially mine!)
I was 3 and waking up from an afternoon nap. I was wearing these purple onesie-footie pajamas and remember feeling really weird. Our house back then had a long hallway and I distinctly remember walking down the hallway feeling dizzy and just overall off. When I got to the living room at the end of the hall, I saw my mom sitting on the ottoman and I stared at her for a few seconds-because I saw two of her. I remember walking over to give her a hug and asking “mommy there are two of you.” I don’t recall anything after that, I just remember those few minutes.
And that’s the story of me waking up cross-eyed and my earliest memory! I’ve asked a few people about their earliest memory and was surprised that almost every person I asked had a first memory that was either bad or traumatic. I wouldn’t necessarily call mine bad but it was definitely traumatic (hello have you seen how thick my glasses are or how big my eyes look in them??).
SO my question for you this week is: what is your earliest memory??

The Cheer Squad

January in Chicago is not fun in case you haven’t heard. It’s cold, windy, icy and did I mention cold? So why not have a half-marathon along the Lakeshore path in January? Great idea!
I personally do not enjoy running outside unless the weather is perfect so the thought of running 13.1 miles in Chicago in January when it’s 12 degrees is not appealing to me in any shape or form. My friends however are crazy and decided they would love nothing more than to run this half. Naturally I couldn’t be left out so I put together a cheer squad:
Aka: Sierra, Linds, Katie, Myself and Em.
Motivating right? If our faces somehow weren’t inspirational enough for our running friends we made really amazing signs:
Talented- yes I know. Back to cheering. Despite the cold (12 DEGREES PEOPLE), the race was actually a really fun one to spectate! Our first spot was located around mile 4 and our second around mile 11 which meant we were out there for about 2 hours.
My cheer philosophy is the crazier the better. When I run a race, I LOVE to see someone out there cheering, dancing and acting a fool-that to me is a major boost. So that’s what I did. I danced, I screamed (and later developed a cough) and cheered on all the runners that were crazy enough to do this. I’m fairly certain the rest of the cheer squad kept slowly inching their way away from me….whatever I’m so glad we all went out to cheer! With the race being on such a cold day not many people came out to spectate so our cheer squad worked extra hard to give peeps a little boost.
My favorite part? As we were walking back to the car I spotted the Muddy Monk himself (Art) running and jamming out to his music. He looked like he was having a BLAST. Come to think of it, 90% of the runners out there seemed to be having a great time. Isn’t that what running is all about?? Seeing people with a big smile on their face during a run is my absolute favorite thing. Knowing people are out there having run-highs gets me through those hours of boredom on the elliptical…
Congrats you crazy F^3 runners!

What has been your favorite race (or sporting event) to spectate??
Book Review: Wildwood
Monday, January 28th, 2013
I really wanted to like this book. PartyDog was actually the one who purchased this last year because the author is Colin Meloy who happens to be one of the members of our favorite band The Decemberists. I know from his music that Meloy has a really imaginative writing style so I waswas super excited to dive into this book- all 576 pages of it.
Here’s the breakdown:
“Prue McKeel’s life is ordinary. That is, until her brother is abducted by a murder of crows and taken to the Impassable Wilderness, a dense, tangled forest on the edge of Portland. No one’s ever gone in—or at least returned to tell of it. So begins an adventure that will take Prue and her friend Curtis deep into the Impassable Wilderness. There they uncover a secret world in the midst of violent upheaval—a world full of warring creatures, peaceable mystics, and powerful figures with the darkest intentions. And what begins as a rescue mission becomes something much greater as the two friends find themselves entwined in a struggle for the very freedom of this wilderness. A wilderness the locals call Wildwood.”
I haven’t read a fantasy story like this in a long time. I typically either love them (Harry Potter) and become completely oblivious to the outside world while reading, or I just can’t get into them. This one was the latter of the two. The story is beautifully written with really interesting artwork thrown in throughout the story and the book itself feels like a work of art (the pages are thick and uneven and the artwork is so neat). You can definitely tell someone really intelligent wrote the story. While I can respect and admire all of that, I never quite got engrossed in the story.
I think for me personally, I never quite connected with the main character. While Prue is brave, adventurous, stubborn and pretty much a warrior princess that totally rocks, I sadly never fell for her. I felt like I was just reading a story about a girl on an adventure instead of feeling her feelings, experiencing her emotions and going along with her for the ride. I prefer books where I connect 100% with the character and feel as if they are my bff but Prue and I weren’t a match made in book Heaven.
Now this book is a trilogy and part of me feels compelled to read the others since I already started it and am such a fan of Meloy. Butttttttt I just don’t know if I can sit through another 1,000+ pages of it. The story just goes on….and on…..and on.
If you like stories that are super imaginative and descriptive then I would recommend you give this book a try. If you’re like me and on the fence about stories like this, then I would say you should find another book to read-this one is just too long to force yourself to finish.
The sad thing is, this marks another book I’ve read recently that I just didn’t enjoy all that much. I want my next book to be something really good and that’s where you come in! Should I read:
The Art of Dancing in the Rain OR Everything Is Illuminated OR The Cider House Rules??
That’s all the nonsense I have for now!
